Description
Manaus Levamicil is a highly effective aquarium medication against diseases caused by Nematodes (roundworms) in both freshwater and saltwater aquariums. This potent medication is based on the powerful Levamisole Hydrochloride, a proven agent in combating parasites that affect the gastrointestinal tract of ornamental fish.
Nematodes such as hairworms (Capillaria sp.) and Camallanus cotti (viviparous worms) primarily infect the intestines and abdominal cavities of fish, causing irritation, perforation, and inflammation with fatal consequences. Young fish and breeding pairs are particularly vulnerable. Fortunately, Manaus Levamicil quickly halts this gradual decline.
Moreover, the medication does not discolor the aquarium water, keeping your aquarium clean and clear.
The main advantages of Manaus Levamicil:
- Effective treatment against nematodes (roundworms):
it effectively combats parasitic roundworms (Nematodes) and threadworms that affect the intestines and abdominal cavities. - Targeting the most common worms:
it is very effective against the most dangerous nematodes, including hairworms (Capillaria sp.) and Camallanus cotti (live-bearing worms). Furthermore, in discus fish, Oxyuridae sp. (also called Discus Madenwurm in German) is more common, another nematode species which causes infections. - Ideal for preventive treatment of breeding animals:
therefore, it can be used preventively to free breeding pairs (at the latest before spawning) and young fish from Nematodes. - Widely applicable for all ornamental fish:
suitable for the treatment of freshwater and saltwater aquariums and is very well tolerated by all ornamental fish species, including coldwater fish, saltwater fish, tropical fish as well as young and weakened animals. - Rapid therapeutic success:
the drug is characterized by a very fast result, which quickly stops the slow weakening and wasting away of the animals. - No discoloration or clouding of the water:
the liquid does not discolour the aquarium water, keeping your aquarium clear. - Easy to dose and apply:
with the clear instruction it is easy to determine the correct dosage and administer the medicine. It is usually administered as a one-time treatment. - Long shelf life:
even after opening, the product has a long shelf life of 5 years.
Signs and symptoms of Nematodes:
Recognizing a nematode infection is essential for rapid treatment. Furthermore, the symptoms fish exhibit with a hairworm infection can vary widely. Infections caused by Capillaria sp. are most easily diagnosed by microscopic examination of nematode eggs in the feces.
Look for the following symptoms in your fish:
- Red worms:
often, red worms are seen hanging from the anus or on the belly of the fish. - Slimy stool:
the stool is slimy. - No or reduced appetite:
in later stages of the infection the fish may stop eating. - Swollen abdomen:
in some cases, a swollen abdomen may occur. - Shy and withdrawn behavior:
the fish may start to hide and become less active.
If you recognize the above symptoms, it’s important to treat the fish promptly to prevent further deterioration. If possible, confirm the diagnosis with a microscopic examination.
Dosage and use
Standard dosage:
Preparation: first, it is recommended to perform a 50% water change on day 1, before starting the treatment.
1st day: 1 ml per 20 liters of aquarium water.
Day 6: Perform an 80% water change, and then add 1 ml per 20 liters of aquarium water.
On day 12, the treatment is complete; perform a major water change of at least 80%.
Important:
- During the treatment, the aquarium filter must remain switched on.
- The water temperature should not exceed 29 ยฐC.
- Calculate the exact volume of your aquarium (water only).
- Dispense the correct amount using the measuring cap provided.
- Do not overdose!
- Levamicil should not be used in combination with other medicines.
- Remove activated carbon orย nitrate resinย from the filter during the treatment, as these can affect the effectiveness of the medication.
- Ensure sufficient aeration of the aquarium during the treatment.
- Ensure good water flow so that the medicine can be optimally distributed in the aquarium.
- The water quality must be good before using this product. It is advisable to change 20 โ 25% of the water every week and to regularly vacuum the bottom.
*Always consult the product leaflet before use.
After 2 – 3 days of starting the treatment, a progressive recovery occurs. For the success of the treatment, it is then important that the animals resume their food intake, so that the gastrointestinal tract of the sick fish becomes active again.
By including food in the treatment water, the medicines reach the pathogens even better.
The symptoms may disappear in the days after the end of the treatment. If the treatment has not helped sufficiently, the treatment can be repeated after a break of one week in persistent cases.
In exceptional cases, water clouding occurs during treatment due to bacterial growth and associated oxygen deficiency. In that case, the treatment must be interrupted with a large water change of 80%.
