Manaus Manacil is a highly effective aquarium medication against diseases caused by protozoan parasites, particularly white spot (Ichthyophthirius multifiliis) in freshwater aquariums. This powerful medication is based on a novel combination of active dyes for fast and targeted control of parasites on the skin and gills of ornamental fish.

Protozoan parasites, such as the pathogen that causes white spot and skin flagellates like Ichthyobodo (Costia) and Chilodonella, penetrate the fish’s skin, leading to irritation, tissue damage, and secondary infections. Signs and symptoms of white spot disease:

Recognizing a protozoan infestation is crucial for rapid treatment. Manaus Manacil is effective against white spot (Ichthyophthirius multifiliis) and other protozoan skin parasites such as Chilodonella, Ichthyobodo (Costia), and Trichodina.
Watch for the following symptoms in your fish:

• White spot (Ichthyo):
  semolina-like, small, bright white dots (resembling salt or semolina) on the fins and body.
• Other ciliates (Chilodonella, Ichthyobodo, Trichodina):
  gray or white rash, a dull, milky-white to gray film or film over the skin (caused by increased mucus production).
• Dark discoloration:
  especially in cichlids, such as discus fish, a dark skin color can be a sign.
• Sanding/flashing:
  the fish rubs or scrapes jerkily against decorations, plants or the bottom to relieve the irritation.
• Shy behavior:
  the fish may be listless, move little, hide or hang in the corner of the aquarium.
• Breathing problems:
  rapid or heavy breathing, hanging at the water surface to gasp for air, gills may be wide open or moving.
• Pinching fins:
  the fins are pinched close to the body.
• No or reduced appetite:
  the fish stops taking in food.

When recognizing the above symptoms, it is important to treat the fish quickly to prevent further weakening of the animals by the parasites. If possible, confirm the diagnosis with the aid of microscopic examination.

Dosage and use

Standard dosage:
Day 1: 50% water change before starting treatment, 1 ml per 40 liters of aquarium water.
Day 3: 1 ml per 40 liters of aquarium water.

In severe cases:
Day 5: 1 ml per 40 liters of aquarium water.
After 7 days, the treatment is complete. Perform a major water change of at least 50%.

Important:

• During the treatment, the aquarium filter must remain switched on.
• The water temperature should not exceed 29 °C.
• Calculate the exact volume of your aquarium (water only).
• Dispense the correct amount using the measuring cap provided.
• Do not overdose!
• Manacil should not be used in combination with other medicines.
• Remove activated carbon or nitrate resin from the filter during the treatment, as these can affect the effectiveness of the medication.
• Ensure sufficient aeration of the aquarium during the treatment.
• Ensure good water flow so that the medicine can be optimally distributed in the aquarium.
• The water quality must be good before using this product. It is advisable to change 20 – 25% of the water every week and to regularly vacuum the bottom.

After 2 – 3 days of starting the treatment, a progressive recovery occurs. For the success of the treatment, it is then important that the animals resume their food intake, so that the gastrointestinal tract of the sick fish becomes active again.
By including food in the treatment water, the medicines reach the pathogens even better.
The symptoms may disappear in the days after the end of the treatment. If the treatment has not helped sufficiently, the treatment can be repeated after a break of one week in persistent cases.

In exceptional cases, water clouding occurs during treatment due to bacterial growth and associated oxygen deficiency. In that case, the treatment must be interrupted with a large water change of 80%.

Composition/ingredients:

Brilliant green: 48 micrograms per 1 ml of solution.
4,4′-Benzylidenebis (n,n-Dimethylaniline): 9,6 micrograms per 1 ml of solution.
Acriflavine HCl: 4 micrograms per 1 ml of solution.
Metanil yellow: 0,05 micrograms per 1 ml of solution.

Storage instructions

Store Manaus Manacil frost-free and in a cool, dark and dry place in the original packaging. It is possible to use opened bottles until they are empty (but not after the expiration date).
