Description
The Ziss Aqua Artemia Hatchery ZH-2000 (Blender) is the ultimate and most advanced incubator/breeding tank for breeding live Artemia (brine shrimp). This system, with a very large 2-liter capacity, is the perfect breeding kit, specifically designed to maximize hatching of Artemia eggs (nauplii) and simplify harvesting. It also features the option to add a heating element (not included), which guarantees a constant and optimal incubation temperature.
It’s a must-have if you want to breed live Artemia for feeding (fry) fish and small ornamental fish. For example, for feeding young discus, skalare, or other fish that eat live Artemia.
The main advantages of the Ziss Aqua Artemia Hatchery ZH-2000:
- Large capacity:
the container, consisting of a large plastic bowl with a handle, has a capacity of 2 liters, making it ideal for breeders and aquarists who require larger quantities of live artemia. - Complete set:
comes with a thermometer with O-ring, a Ziss air stone with air hose, a lid, a unique valve to allow the artemia to drain easily from the container, and a pipette to feed the artemia. - Integrated heating option:
a unique feature of this model is that the lid has a recess for placing a rod heating element in the hatcher. This is crucial for achieving the ideal hatching temperature. - Versatile placement:
can be placed both outside and inside the aquarium thanks to the sturdy supplied foot/stand and handle. - Stable and strong:
the design and stable base ensure a sturdy position in or outside the aquarium. - Highest outcome rate:
the cylindrical design in combination with the air stone ensures perfect movement of the eggs, which leads to a very high hatchability. - Easy to use and accurate dosing:
equipped with a unique dosing valve at the bottom. This allows you to easily and precisely drain the nauplii without much hassle. - High quality:
made of durable, BPA-free, and food-safe plastic. The container is easy to clean and long-lasting..
Use and placement:
Place the ZH-2000 container on the included sturdy stand inside or outside the aquarium. Then fill the container with saltwater and Artemia eggs. Connect the air stone to an air pump (not included) to keep the water and eggs moving. If desired, you can place a small heater (not included) in the recess provided in the lid.
At the optimal temperature of 26 to 28°C, the eggs usually hatch within 24 hours. Without heating, this can take 36 to 48 hours, depending on the ambient temperature. Once the artemia have hatched, you can harvest them. To do this, stop the aeration and wait until the eggshells float to the surface and the nauplii sink to the bottom. Use the metering valve at the bottom of the container to easily drain the artemia.
I’ve personally found that placing a flashlight or lamp at the bottom is beneficial, as the artemia are drawn to light, making it easier and faster to drain them.
Important:
- Use only non-aggressive agents to clean the grow kit.
